- OG&E Initiates Large Wind Power Effort OG&E Electric Services has issued requests for proposals to establish one of the nation’s largest utility-specific wind programs. In its request, OG&E is seeking a large-scale wind power producer to provide 50 MW of wind-generated electrical output. According to the DOE, the request is one of the largest made by a utility solely for the use of its \ retail customers. The wind purchase agreement, which is subject to approval by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, could allow for OG&E customers to begin purchasing wind power by the fall of 2004. According to OG&E’s request for proposals, all proposals will be submitted in March, and a selection is planned in April or May. OG&E serves 700,000 customers through an interconnected network of power lines and related equipment spanning 30,000 square miles in Oklahoma and western Arkansas.
